Maria's first vacation

Maria's first vacation was to Dubai. Escaping from cold and rainy country to a hot, shining and sunny Dubai.
Though having a holiday with a baby is not that easy, it can indeed be much fun.
I tried to put down the checklist that Mommies will probably need for their holidays with babies/infants:

  • Nappies
  • Nappy rash cream
  • Formula - if used and if usual brand isn't easily available where you're going
  • Baby dish / cutlery (spoons) if on solids
  • Any regular comforter used, eg. blanket, teddy or book
  • A couple of re-sealable containers for snacks if your baby is on solids
  • Wipes
  • Nightlight for night-time nappy changes
  • Gentle baby wash
  • Roll-up changing mat
  • Clothes - bring as many as you can because you are probably going to run out of the clothes very quickly (as in our case. On the very first day Mariya changed about three sets of clothes). Tak also some warm clothes, because wherever you go, in the evening it is usually getting cooler and even colder.
  • Car seat if travelling by car
  • Reclining pushchair
  • Changing bag with essentials and spare clothes for on the plane or for easy accessibility and use when on the go - an extra top for you is a good idea to include
  • Bottle / cup and sterilising tablets/travel steriliser if used
  • Enough baby food for the journey
  • Spare dummy if used
  • A couple of baby blankets / baby sleeping bag
  • Soiled laundry bag (waterproof)
  • Preferred snacks
  • A few amusements / books
  • Travel cot if your pushchair doesn't have a suitable carry cot
  • Baby monitor if you're likely to need one

If you are travelling to the beach, sea, always remember to take with you swimming clothes for the baby and swimming wings. For Maria the swimming wings were lots of fun. First she discovered them, and then used to wear them in the sea and the "basa" which in her language meant swimming pool. Also you may wish to take some toys for baby to play in the sands. One of the most important things for the summer holiday is the baby cream/oil against the sun.  I took the Nivea one which has also great  oil against sun burnt for  adults.

Beach shoes for walking tots - sandals that you can get wet are ideal, or those neoprene shoes that can be worn into the sea. We took two sets so that Maria can use them in turn in case one will hurt. Beach towels are also great idea in case the hotel, resort center does not provide. I also took items for first aid and baby medicine against temperature, flu, etc
Remember it is not always easy to have a great holiday with a baby, cuz you have to bother about baby naps, eating and care about her 24 hours. The holiday which you might have imagined on the seashore under the sun with a cold cocktail is not going to happen with you:DDDD But probably you are going to enjoy much you little angel amazed with the sea, playing with the sands and many more wonderful moments:)))  I dont remember where I have read, but it still one of the best quotes 'If you do not spend enough time with your baby when she/he needs you , you will be regretting later for 2 things: missing sth very important and troubles the baby will be causing' . So please to all Mommies in the world, love you babies and enjoy the time you spend with them. Be with them when they need you!!!!!!!
